It has become a cultural tradition to set a “New Year’s Resolution” for January 1st.  All too often, we set big goals with the best of intentions and little forethought about how we will actually succeed in accomplishing them.  Here are 10 great ways to reset for success in the new year.

  1. Set specific and achievable goals: Take some time to think about what you want to achieve this year, both personally and professionally. Be specific and set achievable goals that will help you stay focused and motivated.
  2. Create a plan of action. Once you have identified your goals, create a plan of action to help you achieve them. This might include setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals, and identifying the steps you need to take to achieve them.
  3. Get organized. Take some time to declutter and organize your physical space, as well as your digital space. Having a clean, organized workspace can help you feel more focused and productive.
  4. Prioritize self-care. Make time for activities that nourish your mind, body, and spirit. This might include things like exercise, meditation, or hobbies that bring you joy.
  5. Cultivate positive relationships. Surround yourself with supportive people who inspire and motivate you. Consider joining a professional network or social group that aligns with your interests and goals.
  6. Learn new skills. Invest in your personal and professional development by taking courses or workshops that will help you grow and advance in your career.
  7. Get out of your comfort zone. Don’t be afraid to take risks and try new things. This might include taking on new challenges at work, trying new hobbies, or stepping out of your comfort zone in other ways.
  8. Practice gratitude. Make a conscious effort to focus on what you are grateful for each day. This can help you cultivate a more positive mindset and keep things in perspective.
  9. Seek feedback. Ask for feedback from your colleagues, mentors, or other trusted sources to help you identify areas for improvement and growth.
  10. Take breaks and unplug. It’s important to take breaks and unplug from work and other responsibilities from time to time. This can help you recharge and come back to your tasks with renewed energy and focus.

Remember, your goals should be reviewed regularly, more than once a year.  If you don’t write them down, they are just hopes and dreams.  Take it a step further and share them with others to become accountable.

We wish you the greatest success in all of your endeavors. We have no doubt that you will be able to accomplish whatever goals you set for yourself.
